Father's Day in the Black Forest

Once again, not our typical Father's Day. Usually we head to church and then Silver Lake to celebrate Father's Day with my Dad.  (Happy Father's Day, Dad - can't wait to see you soon!). So, with only a few weeks to go until we head home, we decided to zip down to the Black Forest.  It's hard to believe we live only four hours from the Black Forest and haven't been there yet.  The forest is beautiful!  It is so much different than where we live in the Rhine Valley.  So, we did some hiking, rode a mountain coaster, visited a waterfall, saw some cool towns, and saw a ton of cuckoo clocks (the largest one, in fact, the size of a small house).

Black Forest Cake - we tried it, but it is NOT our favorite dessert.

Hopefully our mountain high will get us through the next few weeks of school and packing!

Time for bed?

Vivian and Jack have a hard time believing it is bedtime when it is so light out.  But, they do have school for a few more weeks, so we still need to enforce a reasonable bedtime.  I have been waking up at 4:30 and noticing the break of dawn.  And, this is what it looks like still after 10:00 at night out my top floor window.  It doesn't seem like that much more daylight would make a difference, but we are still not used to it.  Wow, I can't imagine living further north, like Alaska.  Good night...
