Living in Duisburg

Here are a few things we are learning and doing
as we are getting used to living in Duisburg

It rains a lot!  We now see why Dusseldorf is called "Drizzledorf".  But, the sun peaks out too and we have seen many beautiful rainbows.  We thought we would look for a pot of gold in the grocery store!

The slugs come out after it rains.  Slugs look like a combination of a worm and a snail.  We think this is what might have made Charlie sick.  He loves worms at home, so he probably thought he could handle a slug!

But we are happy Charlie is feeling better!  He is back to chasing bunnies and butterflies.

Jack is making use of our bidet.  He figured it was a great way to wash his feet!

We felt a little more at home this week-end when our cousins came to visit.  I actually forgot I was in Germany for a little while.
Thanks to Mark shipping his gigantic supply of Diet Mountain Dew, Alex was able to enjoy one!

Vivian and Hope had fun slug hunting!

We had an awesome time with family! (Scott, Beth, Kris, & Mark)

Jack had fun playing video games with Alex.

We went to an American brunch with another
JCI family at a fitness center right around the corner.
We went bowling while we were there too.

  1. Was that picture with the corvette on the wall for Dad? Great pics of the family and cousins! Get rid of the slugs before I get there! Ugh!

  2. We totally enjoyed the time with you guys this weekend! It made all of us feel more at 'home'. The kids were talking about how great it was to see family, play games together, and just hang out. Hopefully it stopped raining today. When we got back to our house the sun came out and we had an awesome time blowkarting at the beach.

  3. Hey Kris,
Looks like you had a great weekend with the Millers! I bet that was nice for both families. Who knew it rained so much in Germany! It has been super nice here! That is one huge slug, very cool. Maybe Jack and Vivian can make them into their German pets!

  4. Kris,
I love the bidet picture!! So glad you got to have time with family...and that you had the foresight to send pop!! That's awesome :)

The weather here has been really nice here, but we haven't been to the beach since the first week of August--things are already getting so busy as we prepare for school to start!

Have your kids started school yet? Would love to hear how that's going!

Your house here looks nice...but we miss you on our morning walks! Thinking of you often...

    Jane ;)
